With the aim of making world beautiful for those who could not see, a small establishment was started in 1987. Nagpur lies in the heart of India, where a young ophthalmologist DR. VIKAS MAHATME started something, which was new & very much needed for the society in this area - an Eye Bank & Eye Hospital.
Nourished by hard work, dedication & devotion, the project has grown up to achieve a significant size today in the form of Mahatme Hospitals. Mahatme Eye Bank & Eye Hospital is run by SMM Eye welfare Charitable trust & is a Govt. recognized Eye Bank with maximum corneal retrieval & usage in the region. Over the years institute has expanded it’s wings keeping pace with the time.
