1. What is an Eye Bank ?
   

 

Eye bank is the link between eye donors and blind persons in need of the cornea. It preserves and stores the donated eyes. These eyes are then  utilized for the blinds who gain their vision after transplantation.
2. Why should we donate eyes?
  There are lacs of children and adults in India who are blind.
They know only one color - BLACK. If you donate your eyes ,you are giving them a boon of colorful vision, making there lives self dependent and joyful.
3. Are you a looser by donating your eyes?
 
No. Not at all. The eyes are removed only after death. Over and above the person can see even after death. Like soul (Atma) eyes will also become immortal by eye donation.
4. What should be the minimum time for removal of eyes after death?
   
  The Eyes should be removed as soon as possible after death. The time limit preferably should not exceed four to six hours. Time limit may be lengthened if certain precautions as follows are taken.
   
5. Does eye Donation delay the funeral Process ?
   
 
No. Because time required for removal of eyes is only 15 minutes. 
Moreover eyebank personnel come to a place wherever the body of the deceased is kept. The body need not be shifted to eyebank.
   
6. Does eye donation cause disfigurement of the face?
   
  Moreover in its place artificial eyes can be fitted or lids sutured, so no disfigurement of body will be there.
   
7. How The Information Should Reach Eye Bank?
   
  By any means available, but telephone contact will be fastest.
8. What should be the Age Of Donor?
   
  There is no hard and fast rule for age limit. The eyes of all the age groups are removed. If found unsuitable for transplantation operation, they can be used for research. 
   
9. Can the person wearing spectacles donate eyes?
  Yes. He can.
10. Can the person previously operated for cataract or patient with some other diseases or with reduced vision donate eyes?
   
  Definitely .The eye can still be utilized. Eyes are not removed only if the deceased had contagious disease.
   
11. Is there any need of written consent from the deceased 
(dead person) for eye donation before death ?
   
  No. It not must. The only requirement is willingness of near relative of the deceased to donate eyes of dead person.
   
12. What can you do for Eye Bank ?
   
a) INFORM the eyebank if unfortunately there is death in the vicinity or among the relatives.
b) YOUR WILLINGNESS to donate eyes of your close relative after his death will be sufficient.
c) You can ENROLL your name for voluntary eye donation.
d) CONVINCING the near relatives of dead person will be rewarding for blind.
e) You can offer your SERVICE to eye bank in any form.
